About Varanasi
Varanasi is a thriving city in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is known as the spiritual capital of India. It serves as the hub of pilgrims who visit from all over the world, especially Hindus who bathe in the Ganges Rivers’ sacred and holy waters to perform rituals and purify themselves. An ancient city, Varanasi attracts a lot of tourists every year. It is believed to be the home where Lord Shiva resided. Varanasi is one of the oldest cities globally and is full of rich cultural legacies and heritage.
The city is home to ancient and architecturally beautiful temples, museums, holy waters, ghats, and many more. Varanasi also has an abundance of scrumptious food, beverages, and flavors, including kachori sabzi, baati chokha, thandai, laaiya chana, Dahi vada choora matar, and many more.
Our concern
Varanasi is one of the most ancient cities globally but is also home to the poor, underprivileged groups who starve themselves to sleep each day. Their endless circle of agony and hunger needs to be broken, and we, the people of Varanasi, known for our religious roots and true nature, need to give food to the less privileged.
Our aim
We aim to make sure all the people living in Varanasi go to sleep with a full stomach. We urge you to eradicate hunger from this city and do the least by providing everyone with a meal to have the energy to get through the day. We want to build a community of our fellow citizens to help those in need.
How does Roti Bank help?
We as a community, of our selfless and diligent members, act as a bridge between people who have surplus food, and people who have a scarcity of food. During festivities in Varanasi, along with joyous celebrations, often there is a surplus of food, which goes to waste. Roti Bank collects this leftover food and gives it to the poor and the needy.
Even in marriages, parties, birthdays, or family gatherings, no amount of food is less,
Every bite makes a difference.
How can you donate?
There are two ways in which you can bring a change and donate food to the poor.
- You can contact us to collect leftover food from your doorstep. This food will be given to the hungry children and people in the city.
- You can also donate a sum of money, from which food will be purchased for the poor, without a single penny going into our own pockets.
We aspire to make progress, not profits.
Our plead
We urge you all to join hands and reunite forces to donate food to the needy, to give them a good meal, and for them to feel lucky in this magical city. Let’s make Varanasi a gorgeous and prosperous city for all living here.
